Could you tell us a little about TOTEM and how it operates?
TOTEM is a tower company that draws its expertise from telecoms infrastructure management, with data exploitation at the heart of its business. Our mission is to provide innovative and efficient solutions to customers in need of telecoms infrastructures, based on a data-driven approach. Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a key role in our strategy, enabling us to improve internal processes and optimize the customer experience. We’re still at the beginning of our AI integration process, but the initial results are promising.
How is AI integrated into your processes?
We have begun exploring the use of AI to extract unstructured data from technical documentation. AI enables us to gain an overview of assets, which is essential for optimizing site availability, boosting our responsiveness and making it easier to carry out operations.
Concrete applications of AI to improve operational efficiency
Can you give some concrete examples of how AI is used at TOTEM?
One of the most striking examples is the use of AI to identify antenna siting opportunities. Thanks to the analysis of satellite images, we can evaluate potential sites without having to physically travel. AI saves an enormous amount of time, and this technology is likely to be a game-changer for our business.
What challenges have you encountered in integrating AI?
The main challenge lies in the widespread use of AI within the company. It’s a question of looking at how to insert it into all processes, so as to multiply the information base. Integrating AI requires an acculturation phase for all teams. We need to support each business line so that AI is seen as an opportunity for everyone, rather than a constraint.
