NEWS ABOUT TOTEM IN SPAIN

DigitalES
High-quality infrastructures to increase the attractiveness of our regions: TOTEM joined as a partner of DigitalES, the Spanish Association for Digitalisation to explain TOTEM’s role in the development of mobile networks in Spain for operators and players in the IoT and smart city sectors. Tower companies such as TOTEM, play today a central role to provide the most needed infrastructures in cities and rural areas in Spain.

TOTEM deploys small cells in Spanish cities
Small cells are low-powered radio access nodes deployed in densely populated urban areas or areas with high demand for mobile data. They complement macrocell towers by providing targeted coverage and capacity in specific locations.
Small but powerful, they deliver better service in areas with high data demand, ultimately improving network efficiency and user experience. TOTEM is currently deploying small cells in several Spanish cities to improve mobile coverage (Madrid, Barcelona, Zamora, etc.).

UNICO 5G Networks Fiber Backhaul
TOTEM TOWERCO S.L.U. has been successful in its application for the 2022 round of the UNICO 5G Networks Fiber Backhaul Funding Program, to deploy fiber in the locations listed below: GUIPUZKOA, HUESCA, LA RIOJA, SEGOVIA. This first round of funding by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and funded by the European Union-NextGenerationEU. The ÚNICO “5G Networks – Backhaul Fiber Optic Backhaul” grant program aims to support the deployment of 5G at all levels of the territory, in order to reduce the digital divide between rural and urban areas.

An agreement with the Spanish Government
Together with other major telecommunications operators and communications infrastructure companies (DIGI, MASORANGE, Telefónica, Vodafone, American Tower, Cellnex Telecom, AOTEC, Hispasat and Vantage Towers), coordinated through the DigitalES_ Association, TOTEM has signed an Agreement with the Spanish Government, represented by Oscar López Agueda – Minister for Digital Transformation and Civil Service of Spain, and in the presence of SETELECO, Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, Antonio Hernando Vela and María Fernanda González González, Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.

Delta Com Group
A partnership to promote the circular economy. Thanks to this alliance, TOTEM can reuse telecommunications infrastructures, and equipment that has reached the end of its useful life or become obsolete will be collected, dismantled and reconditioned or scrapped by DeltaComGroup, in most cases giving a second life to this equipment in Spain or other countries. It’s an important milestone in sustainability and the circular economy in the telecoms industry. This agreement will reduce emissions by up to 50% during each dismantling operation, avoiding the release of more than 300 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

AOTEC
Our commitment: infrastructure excellence. TOTEM works with the AOTEC association, a professional organization whose aim is to represent, promote, coordinate and defend local telecommunications operators. Thanks to this partnership, TOTEM is able to leverage its towerco industrial expertise in Spain to help its operator customers take their mobile coverage projects to the next level. Through its collaboration with AOTEC, TOTEM is proud to promote connectivity solutions and infrastructures to answer the most complex connectivity needs.
